I removed my airbox only to find some white stuff that oozed out of the crankcase hose.
It almost smells like burnt lube or whatever.

Anyone know what could have caused this?
The cold weather?

Possible head gasket failure. Or possible blow-by of the piston rings(which, given your other symptoms of late-fouled plugs etc.- either is quite possible).

Possible that engine not getting fully warm on the last few or last ride.

Run it a bit and then shut it off and look at your oil in the sight window.

Is it milky looking? Yes=head gasket gone. No=still possible head gasket failure.

Check coolant at the cap under the tank cover. Oily, milky? =head gasket failure.

oil is not milky and coolant is normal.

It had only like maybe a tea-spoon of that white oily stuff.
I removed the hose and there was none at the end where it connects to the crankcase.
I didnt really let it warm up much today when I rode it. maybe like 2 minutes and its cold out.
Iv been riding with the choke half on also and putting it down fully once it gets fully warmed.


i think I will save some cash and buy another fzr or yzf motor...I will do yzf if the swap isnt extremly hard.

Yeah, you need to run it harder/more. That is the condensate that always forms in engine crankcases. Under normal operating (up to full temp..loaded) that condensate is supposed to do exactly what it was doing in your engine....getting vaporized and rebreathed/burnt off via the crankcase breather.

I try to make it a point to never start anything of mine without serious intent....truck, bikes, etc....if I can help it at all, they never get started, and not warmed up...or lightly loaded and then shut off.

These days of sub-zero weather we have had here means a loop around the outskirts of town to make a "five minute" run to the grocery store in the truck. I end up putting 10 miles on it...or consolidating trips so that I HAVE TO drive that far anyway.

oh, makes sense. ill have to just let it warm up.
I dont have my guages hooked up so I cant exactly tell when its warmed.
I have to do moding to my stay that I made to get the gauges on.
I guess I will just keep the gauges with me in my backpack and when I start up my bike I can plug them in until its warmed then unplug it.

I still could use a motor with less miles on it.
I burn threw oil like crazy. I need almost a bottle a month.

Yeah I get this on my BMW every winter. Scared me the first time I saw, immediatly thought it was the head gasket.
