Whats with the swing arm swaps? Is it all about a wider tire? whats the pros and cons of a wider tire on the FZR?

In some cases it's not really to go wider. The 18 rear wheel used to be standard on sport bikes and now the 17inch rear is the standard. They are very few companies that make a tire to go on the 18x4.5 inch wheel so swapping to a 17incher opens up the door to a lot more tire choices. The pros and cons? You're going to get a lot of varying answers there...

I personaly am just going to go with the gsxr rear wheel, so no swingarm swap required...
but just as sweekster said...people mainly do it for the viriety.
Dunlop is the only company that still makes a tire that fits the fzr that iv found...
you can also find some BTO14 bridgestone tires...but thats it...

Id only do the swap for looks though...I hate starying at my thin a** back wheel

cause it looks cool!

And wider is better!

sweek, he meant because cad600 has not been able to ride his bike because it does not run.
95FZR600 was wanting to know if anyone has done it and actually RIDES the "running" bike.

Sweekster +5 on better compounds on 17" tyres as to going wider that is a very personal perception some rider find the wide back end far more tiring to chuck around others are just more agressive rider and find that multi compound wide tyres a breeze to ride with.

thats what I thought... I haven't been in a situation where I needed a wider or more traction. I think I would just end up getting a newer bike. (and keep my FZR)

if you dont swap out your swingarm and just put a gxsr wheel , you might still be staring at a thin a** back wheel ..hehe
you prob wont be able togo bigger then a 160 profile anyways
