I have a 95 fzr with the v&h slip on just like everyone else. I'm pretty sure someone installed a jet kit at some point. If I go out for a ride, say more than 30 minutes the exhaust does not get hot. I can actually put my hand on it without burning my self. (it's only warm). Is this normal for an FZR? My first instinct is that the bike is running so rich that its spewing enough fuel into the exhaust to keep the rest of the exhaust cold.
Anyone think this is wierd or is it normal?

my pipe use to get hot, i had a full supersport system. maybe the pipes new or somthing, i dunno. your not running rich cuz fuel in the muffler would make fire and also you only run rich if you see oil in the exhuast.

if the bike runs rich you will hear explosions when letting of the throttle. it can be normal that the slipon don't get hot.

Did a VCA and replaced the sparkplugs, changed oil... NOW the exhaust gets much warmer than before, and the bike runs a little smoother. I don't know what you guys think did it, but I have a feeling it was the spark plugs. It seems normal now, but i do hear a little popping in the can under decel. Can't wait to change over to fuel injection... carbs suck.

as far as the popping that you hear under deceleration, pull your carbs off and check to see if all of the butterflies are opened the same distance. If you are hearing popping under decel then this is possibly what it is, but it could be air/fuel ratio, not enough back pressure..or not a hot enough spark. If the opening on your butterflies is different across all of the cylinders then one carb is going to pull in more fuel than the other ones while decelerating, and that extra fuel is exploding. The butterflies can be adjusted by he screws between the carbs, and if you hold a light on the other side of the carb and look through it with the butterfly closed then you should only see a hairline opening. Another little thing you could try doing is cleaning the ground contacts on your coils. Better ground = more current = more spark.
