Re: R1 shock
A) what's a sweet deal?
B) If the R1 shocks are similar to the R6 shocks, the early (up to '05 or '06) ones had an eyelet at the bottom which will complicate conversion. The later R6 shock has a lower clevis mount like the stock FZR. If the R1 shock you can get has the clevis lower then it should be pretty straightforward.

Re: R1 shock
I'd say that'd be alot of work getting that swingarm to work. You see the '06-07 R6 rear shocks going on ebay every day for under $25. I'm currently looking for spacers so I can do the swap. There's someone here that's doing custom dogbones I need to talk to, I think he's got a ad in the parts section.shredex wrote:if the land rover parts are useless to you, then go for it_LM_ wrote:sweat deal is getting it for some land rover parts I have laying around...

Re: R1 shock
trust me fellas you dont want a any R1 swingarms. i had the 04-06 style and entire set up. shock mount is off center, its 4" longer the stock also. and you cannot machine it down like the r6 swingarm or yzf600r swingarm.
now move along, nothing to see here.

Re: R1 shock
Yes but as anyone tried a r1 shock?
Re: R1 shock
It shouldn't be an issue making it work as long as it has a clevis(fork) at the bottom. Otherwise you get into changing the FZR's cast alum/with bearings 'relay arm'_LM_ wrote:Yes but as anyone tried a r1 shock?
FZR shocks are really close to 12 inches long mount to mount. The R6 shock is approx 11.75".
Do you know how long the R1 shock is?

Re: R1 shock
None of the R1 shocks will work easily, they all have the eyelet style bottom as opposed to the fork style that the fzr has.
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

Yes it's not easy but it can be adapted very easily i think.
I'm also checking ebay for anything that would work but the postage kills me!
