Dog Bone Length

So what is the calculation for the dog bone length? With the swingarm swap I did, I put the original FZR dog bones back in there and the tail is just too damn high. The stock length is about 6.0". So how much longer do the dog bones need to be to lower the bike 1"?

So "8mm=1inch" is a general rule or a 600 specific measurement so I can update the dog bone wiki article?

this is in the wiki already for the 400/600, I beleive it came from thatkid: A 1mm shorter bones will yield about 2.4mm raise on average.

I need to lower the tail about 2" or so. So I'm looking for some dog bones that are about 6-1/4" to 6-1/2" long. I've got a set that are 7" and 7-1/2", but they seem too extreme for this. I don't mind that tail being up a little higher than stock and can flat foot the setup now, but the bike leans over way too much on the kick stand and I keep kicking the tail when I swing my leg over it. So I want to lower it a little.

You're right I forgot to raise you go shorter...I looked at it last night and thought for sure we had ironed out this topic already in the wiki...

Cad,
please use metric measures as that is what Yamaha make their stuff by, and is quoted in the part sizes link ( which I am also updating very soon with my notes for swinarms & dog bones in my collection )
when you say long is that overall length or hole center measurement ?
