Where does this plug go?

There's a round plug coming from the CDI...where does it go? Customer brought me a 1990 600 that is, basically, a basketcase...no spark and I'm hoping this will cure at least THAT problem.

How many wires are attached to it?
The only round one I can think of is for the EXUP servo...

There's five wires. I wouldn't think the exup valve would be actuated by the CDI. I'll get a pic up in a minute

Lucky for you, we're here to help - the EXUP valve is controlled by the CDI.
Are there 2 or 3 plugs going to your CDI?

There are three plugs, rage. Sorry, I'm not very familiar with FZR's. I've owned FZ's and had people bring me YZF's to work on, but this is the first time an FZR has been in my shop.

yeah i'm gonna agree with it being for the exup valve. My CDI definatly doesn't have that.

The exup valve being gone wouldn't cause a no-spark situation, would it?

Not sure if that's an earlier CDI or what, but my 96' Cali didn't look like that. My servo plugged right into the CDI. Someone with an earlier FZR will have to chime in.
The only reason I believe it to be for the Servo is that the non-Cali models don't have that coming out of the CDI.
Removing the CDI should have no effect on getting spark. I ran mine without the servo attached for a couple thousand miles. Doesn't mean your CDI is not bad though.
Run tests on the stator, coil packs and VR before going forward.

I had to look for a new CDI when I bought my bike. The earlier years for the EXUP models had the round plug you're speaking of (~'91). And buying a new-used CDI certainly did take care of my no-spark problem on cylinders 2 & 3. I don't have an EXUP, but I would assume that any open plug on the CDI would leave some of the circuit open, meaning no spark... Good luck getting it back up and running!

Heres a couple wiring diagrams for the 400 and 600.I beleive the one for the 600 is for a 98 and dosent have the exup wiring on it.May still help tho.

Not the case with my 96 EXUP. Ripped the EXUP servo off and disconnected it from the CDI and never had an issue. That might not be the case with the earlier models though.

on the 1ks you get limited ot like.....4k rpms I think if it cant see the exup valve
and that looks alot like the connector from my 90 exup....I can double check tomorrow, but my 90 was a 1k
you could bypass them by wiring 2 wires in the plug together I think....
