Hard Start/Rough Idle when cold
Ok guys, I havent been on here in a while mostly cause of school and haven't done very much riding lately. However, the last few times Ive gone out, my bike doesnt want to start and idles really rough till it warms up. Once its warm it runs like a champ. I did put a YZF600 V/R in a few months ago. You think that could be the problem?

IMO it sounds like a carb issue! I had the same problem, until I ran some Seafoam http://www.seafoamsales.com through the carbs, and gas. Seafoam might be a safe (cheap) way to start tackling the problem before you start ripping the carbs apart. Check the spark plugs while your at it. It can't hurt and its also relatively cheap method of (process of elimination) I had replaced my VR early this summer and it improved my idle , even when dead cold. The VR would (almost) eliminate an electrical issue.fropleyquark wrote:Ok guys, I havent been on here in a while mostly cause of school and haven't done very much riding lately. Re: Hard Start/Rough Idle when cold
Did you ever need to use the choke to start it? Do you need to use it now?
Has the weather changed significantly since this problem arose?
How many miles are on your engine?
Last time you adjusted the valves?

Re: Hard Start/Rough Idle when cold
Never had had to use the choke before but do now. 10K miles on motor. Never adjusted valves. Ran like a champ until about 2 months ago. First problem was when I had to ride bout 20 miles in a downpour. I run seafoam in the gas tank but will go straight to the carbs next to see iof thatll help. It did on all my old Jeeps.
