Broke this bolt, what to do?

During some engine work, a buddy of mine mistook this allen key-bolt for being the oil drain plug and tried to undo it. The head along with an o-ring broke off, causing oil to sweat from the remaining bolt.

(Not my engine, but I'm talking about the allen key bolt to the right of the oil level "window")

Can I just splash some JB--weld over it or can I remove the rest of the bolt? It seems to sit pretty tight... :whistle

What I'm really wondering is what does this bolt do, and should it be easy to remove?

-5K on that answer !
If the bolt sheared the metal has become brittle & chrystaline ie VERY hard, the chances of getting a center punch to dent it enough for a fine drill to start properly without skidding into your soft alloy case are VERY slim. canofworms

Even if you do get hole drilled central enough the EZE out (iT WAS NAMED THAT BECAUSE THE MAKERS GET YOUR MONEY EZEE OUT YER WALLET) it will be finer than the original bolt and because it has been hardened be more brittle and will snap of in the hole , being harder than the bolt you will not be able to drill it.out. :deadhorse:

To solve this problem you weld a rod onto what is left of the bolt (even down a hole you build it up till a rod will weld on then) weld a T piece to that rod. the heat of the weld will break any corrosion / thread sealer and the T bar will allow a great deal of force to be applied. Nerd
Time taken my way 10mins tops, your way hours if you are lucky with a lot of risks of failure :swear
