I have my own project?

Post by slayermd »

Wow. I usually come on here excited to see other peoples projects, but now I have my own!

Basically its a FZR 400 frame swap. There are a few reasons why I did this.
1. Because I had nothing else to do.
2. Its cool
3. Weight

Ok, so now for picture time!

Step one......
Image

Old frame...Looking lonely.
Image

Got the engine on a milk create.
Image

Forks!!!
Image

Painted the top triple while I had it off.
Image

I have a face!
Image

This is the reason I wanted to swap singers.
Image

And...
Image

This is what its at now.
Image

Image

I cant wait until this is done!

Man it makes me want to start my 400 swap. I have too many other projects to finish first. Looking good though.

I CAN'T WATCH!

I love the flat black frame. What a great idea! :whistle

That bearing race was sent out today. My bad.... yes, I'm holding him up a little. I did send some extra parts though.

Can't wait! I know it's going to be bad ass!

Hey! Since you have both down tubes, from a 400 and 600. Can you see if they are different and report?

I haven't gotten much done in the past few days due to school and work. The only things Ive done was clean up the garage a bit, paint the front wheel and mount the rear plastic fender thingy. So here are some pics!

Front wheel before.
]Image

And after. I know, its a shitty paint job.
Image

Plastic fender mounted. I didnt know where it mounted up to, so I just drilled and tapped a new hole for it!
Image

BTW, the down tube weigh in at about the same. The only difference that I saw was different mounting tabs for the fairings.

So, I got the part I needed from Rage super duper fast and that allowed me to get the frontend back on. Anyway, pics!

With the YZF tank. Sexy.....
Image

w00t!
Image

I got this idea from manveru and his build.
Image

With the forks back on.
Image

All that I have left is get the tank mounted, some electrical, chain and body work on. I love being a monkey wrench! :banjoman

She is looking nice. Who cares about a crappy paint job. At 90mph the camera won't be able to tell. And hopefully they'll be looking at the downed knee vs the front rim.

Bones are out getting powdercoated. I will ship them out when I get them back.
