YZF ignition question

When I purchased my yzf 600 fuel tank for my swap the guy sent me the ignition cylinder as well to complete the lock set. Has anyone converted to a different ignition? The yzf ignition has an extra wire to it, but I do not have a schematic, so I cannot see what it is for. I'd like to use just one key, and the newer keys look cooler anyways haha. Let me know!

Nope, I run two keys. Guess what though? Its only one more key on the ring.

I ran 2 keys too... ha!

I think you just have to splice the blue wires together IIRC.

I know that your are able to change the ignition on a motorcycle.
just like how you are able to change the lock on your door.
you have to take your forks off to change it though.
just take a look at how the one on your bike is mounted and you can see how to remove it and replace it.
I would recommend taking it to a pro though.

I know how to replace it, and no you don't have to take your forks off. All I am inquiring about is the actual wiring, because that is what is different.

3 are the same color, one is different. I would just plug it in and try but my connector is gone and it is just hard wired now, so I've gotta cut and splice. Was just trying to do a little research before I did that.

I guess you would be the first to swap out the ignition. Let us know how it works out.

I guess so, I'll let you guys know when I get to it. I ordered those GSXR mirrors last night, I'll make sure to take pics of that too.

This is the reverse (YZF wiring with FZR switch), but it should help you figure things out,

But really I think it would just be easier to rekey one of the locks then redo wiring (the tank lock would be easiest, but if you want to use teh newer key then you can do the ignition switch too, I've only done one of those, its got a few more tumblers, but it isn't really any harder then the tank lock once its removed). I've done the tank several times....as long as the lock is open (i.e. you have a key and its not locked) its really easy to do.
