I think whats going on with VR's is actually coming from outer space. The martians have broke through the outer ring and into our territorial air space....soon we will be without cell phones.

Just glad you caught it before it had a chance to fry something else.

Surprisingly after I changed it out, with a new Voltage Rectifier, the whole bike ran better, started easier, smoother idle. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

From the two FZR's that I have owned, both have come with VR's that have fins (heat sink type) and have worked just fine. I guess Im lucky or something.

When I purchased my bike in November of last year it was having charging problems. The original owner said a shop looked at it and said it was a bad stator. I went through the bike myself and found that it was a bad VR. Unfortunately, I was not on this board yet and did not know about the VR mod. So at the time I purchased another old style. I regret that now....
