Gauge problem/turn signal/brake light

Post by shredex »

Im very disappointed in my fzr600 right now. I have an R6 digital speedo gauge hooked up to mine. Everything was running perfectly (except for the mph). I wanted to make sure my turn signals worked on my bike, so I just attached one to the rear and tested it out, and it worked, but then I put it on the front, and all the turn signal did then was stay really bright, then I turned on the signal and then it stopped working. My speedo gauge doesnt work anymore, nothing even lights up on it. at first it did light up and didnt show anything on the screen, but then when I turned the ignition off then back on, the lights on the gauge didnt work. my headlight doesnt work anymore. my turn signals dont work anymore. my brake light doesnt get brighter when I hit the brakes. I checked all of my fuses, and none are fried. The bike still starts up though. I dont know whats wrong with it. it makes me sad because I just bought the bike 5 days ago.

I checked all of my connections and they were good, but I still have the same problem.
I even recharged my batterie and it didnt work.
I tried starting my bike for the first time also in 2 days. It will only run when I twist the throttle a little now, and when I put the throttle back to normal it dies. and as soon as I put it into first gear in completly dies. I pulled out the carbs to clean them 2 days ago but they were already spotless so I put them back on. I made sure everything was back in the right place.
But it wont run now. I think I might have to adjust the idle on it. I dont know how to do that though. but if it was that then It wouldnt die when I still have the throttle twisted and put it into first.
its such a downer for me. it was running PERFECTLY until I tried putting the blinker on.
could I need a new power commander?

this is the regulator that is on my bike

remember that my tail isnt stock and everything it bunched up under the seat...
heres my bike

in this picture you can see that the digital gauge is working.

it all just stopped working when I plugged in that blinker.

The idle screw is on the left hand side when you put your hand through by the tank and the fairing you should be able to feel it.

All it does when i hit the start button now is the starter solinoid makes a bunch of noise.

I would go through and check all your wires very well. One wire can cause a big problem. Keep us posted.

I went threw and checked all my wires and connections about 4 times now. I checked all of my fuses. I just believe that its the battery, but I wont know that until I can get a new one. A guy told me to check the regulator for any warp or melted plastic. He said that that could be the problem.

its by the sidestand of course :)

you should be able to just bridge the 2 wires off of it so its always reading the kickstand as UP

if it fails and starts to think the stand is down all the time, no starter engagement!

The head fuse is the 25 one right? its a fuse thats all by itself.
I checked all of my fuses and they were fine. And yes, I know, you have to have the bike in neutral for it to start

oh, My bike was able to start before with my kickstand down.

so that isnt the problem. I really hope its just the battery

hey man, i'm the guy you've been communicating with through email..i wasn't sure what regulator you had, that one is the good kind. i wish i had a picture of my old one to show you but it doesn't matter.

before you go and replace your battery, you can take the leads off of the posts and scrape them and the posts and tighten them back. but i don't think it's a battery issue. you can try to jump it with a car, just don't have the car running when you do it.

nice FZR though, i like it, i'm planning on painting mine black, but i'd have to get a new windscreen, i don't know how a red windscreen with a black paintjob would look, unless i tried to make it a raven edition fzr with red fzr stickers and red pinstripes around the rim, thats a possibility.

I would just like to get my bike able to RUN now...since it doesnt anymore.
if you do that then paint the rims red to match, it would look good. Im trying to get a tinted black windscreen for mine, and a front fender. Im getting the front fender of ebay for $42 bucks O_O. I wish I could find one cheaper.
anyways, I added your myspace also.

yeah, i just saw your invite to myspace..i don't want to paint the rims all red..i'm planning on this color scheme except i'll have a red windscreen. my rims are already black, and i just shined them up, so it's nice and shiny. I can't wait to paint it black now. I'll just have to find red pin striping.

I would like to get a whole r6 front fairing set and put it on my bike.
Dont put an old style fzr sticker on it. I didnt like the one I my bike that you can see in the picture, so I took it off with a razor.
I also took off the yamaha logo on the tank. maybe find the decal for that R6 and put that on it.
I would also like to get that short exaust can on my bike.
It just sucks for me now because I got to get my bike running again before I continue modding it.
I still have to take my $300 motorcycle safety course which I dont have the money for yet.
