Carburetor Issues

Post by daemiun »

Ok, so this bike when it was bought by my little brother was running. He took it to a shop and had the carburetor completely replaced and rebuilt (supposedly).

When we got it back it did not run. I proceeded to buy the bike from him. In about 30 minutes I got it to start. It ran for about 5-7 minutes before it bogged out and died.

I have replaced the fuel filter, gave it new gas and threw some seafoam into the gas tank to clean out the lines and everything else. The plugs fouled out at this point, so i bought new plugs and it ran again. Yet for the same 5-7 minutes. Upon the 3rd time of getting it to start I found that carb 3 is getting to much fuel. The "shop" said that the venturi was dripping and I would need another BRAND NEW carburetor. This is after i just paid 900$ for them to fix it.

So, im pretty sure the adjustment screw are off. It fouled out my plugs again, and i can no longer get it to start. I just want to be sure as to which screws I need to be adjusting to get the air/fuel mixture correct.

Unless you guys may have another reason as to my problem. Yet I am pretty sure that its just getting to much fuel pushed into the carburetor.

What I saw when the carburetor showed its true colors was that it was blowing smoke up through the air filter part of the carburetor and it was backfiring. So correct me if I am wrong guys. I have been at this for a week now and spent about 200$ just replacing everything to get the damn thing running alone lol.

A piece of crud has dislodged from the tank and is holding the float needle open. Turn the petcock off, drain and pull the carbs, pull the bowls, and have a look.

And give the shop a kick in the balls. Needs a new carb,my ass ... :swear
