My bike has always been one that has run hot. especially here in Texas. Moving down the highway I can get it to cool down to normal temp but once I stop at a light or traffic it creeps up to 3/4 of the way or pegs at high. I have to resort to using my fan with a manual button.
Im interested in trying a new thermostat as this weekend I noticed that the temp would peg at 3/4 then shoot down a little. I think my thermostat is maybe sticking a little.
Are there any aftermarket Tstats that can be used? I was reading somewhere that a early 90's dodge truck t-stat would work. Looks like a 92 D50 or so.
What else can I check besides coolant level and air pockets? I'm ot sure what condition the impeller of the pump is in either. Anything I am missing?

Re: Thermostats..... aftermarket?
Here in Germany the Tstats are often changed against the one of a T12 / T72 Nissan Bluebird (named also Nissan Auster in other Countries) as these open and close around 10 ° C earlier (opening at around 95 ° C, closing again at around 85 ° C)than the Yamaha ones (usually open at around 105 °C and close around 95° C)and will fit in FZRs
