So i tried something new on my bike that i never see anyone talking about at all as far as performance upgrades are concerned. I lengthened the carb boots per se...
What i did first was kinda shove a 1.25" chrome/brass tail piece extension from a bathroom sink , down into the boot as far as possible to reduce rubber/air contact. Now i started with 3.5" tubes, then later chasnged and modified, well a bit carried away.
With the 3.5" X 1.25" tubes and a bench sync, it ran amazing. And i have had varying results. But currently, i have 7.5" X 1.5" chrome/brass tubes, bench synced carbs, and pod filters.
Now, my newest issue... It runs great in the top end. 4k to 12k its amazing. But below 4k it hesitates a lot, it can be very touchy/jumpy in first and second gear. And it has a high rev that dies down after about 2 seconds after you come to a stand still, then it drops down and jinda half wants to die but half want to stay going... Also, after i rev up to high rpms and high speed, fir a little while then let it drop off ob the rpms, it starts to do these deep, kinda neat, sounding backfires.

Pod filters do wonderful things for your top end, IF you can live with what it does for your bottom end. Actually, most problems with pods come in when people mount the filter directly on the carb mouth, instead of using - as you did - a length of tubing to maintain the throat length. You're way lean on the bottom, so you'll definitely need to adjust your mix screws, and may have to bump up your idle jets.

For sure, thanks alot, I'll try that out. I actually fully disassembled, cleaned, and polished my carbs, and at that time I adjusted the air/fuel ratio screws and its running fabulous.... I actually ported, and polished the head, added a 5"x 1 1/4" polished aluminum tube with a flange I came across that fit perfect, between engine and each carb, then ported and polished through the carbs and into the stacks and then the pod. It runs absolutely wonderful, its fast as hell off the line. And I have no hesitation at take off as I did before. It has no problem ever starting up at cold, and idles perfectly, with a deep rumble. I don't understand why more people arnt doing this to they're engines. It was literally just time and effort and $10 in materials. 25 including the pods. I had to cut out gas tank top, and build a scoop cowling system, which was about $15 in materials and 10 for paint... Anyway, it looks sick and runs amazing...
