Looks great. Not to detract from all the work you're doing, but aren't the forks turned around backwards?

Sweet jesus! Yes they are. It would seem my haste was traded for attention to detail. Good catch.

That's ok. I was putting some tubes on the other day and thought it didn't feel quite right. Makes sense I suppose. But I got her all turned around like they should be. Pictures to follow soon..

I posted in the general discussion about plastics but have zero response! Anybody around here know a good place to get decent fairings for a god price?

So I know I needed a front brake master cylinder for the old fizzer so I did some shopping online between mrcycles.com and Yamaha parts house and of course the old trusty bike bandit. I ended up ordering a new (assumption on my part) cylinder from mrcycles. Got it in Friday, installed Saturday and started bleeding the system. As expected it took some time bubbling and puling the lever but I never did get any pressure from the lever. After more pumping I heard a splattering sound and fluid hit the deck. Alas. The piston blew out and was now letting air directly in. I've contacted the company and no response as expected on a weekend. Guess Ill ring them in the morning. Anyone else ever experience this type of faulty part?

Hi, when you say the piston blew out do you mean that the rubber piston seals failed and leaked?

Can you post a picture of it.

Yes. The piston seals are not sealing. Just spitting out fluid and sucking in air. I'll take a pic tonight

Was one Hell of a fight to get the distributor to agree to send a new one too.

I'm glad the new parts are on the way. I had exactly the same issue with mine when I rebuilt the front calipers. Put it all back together, feeling quite chuffed with myself, and then the master started leaking when I bled the system just like yours is. banghead

A strip down and new seals sorted it.

Yeah it killed me. It was a brand new cylinder. Wouldn't build pressure then all of a sudden it pops? Tell me there wasn't something wrong with it.

Hi, there was nothing wrong with the master cylinder itself the bore and piston were smooth with no scoring. Even the seals looked good to the eye but I guess they had degraded through age and lack of use and just weren't forming a good seal anymore. A good clean up and soaking the new seals in brake fluid before fitting them sorted it out.

Just a quick update folks. I ordered new fairings from air tech, they gave me a really good price but I'll be waiting 5 weeks for them to get here. Got the bad master cylinder in the mail and should receive that within the next week or so.

I got the engine mounted and new hardware installed on the lower frame pieces, clipons installed, wire loom installed, kickstand on and she's back on her own feet. Unfortunately, I gouged the heck out of my brand new paint job. Think I made a mistake using laquer paint. Oh well. Still looks decent. Just gotta keep chemicals off her. Pics to follow soon.
