Pushrod replaced, now clutch wont engage

Hi everyone, first post on here. Im working on a friends fzr600. His chain snapped and took out the pushrod on the left side of the engine.

I removed the pushrod and all that, and put in a new one. And after mounting it the clutch lever has no grip at all and wont engage. I havent turned on the bike yet.

I fear perhaps the clutch is not indexed properly, but i did make a few marks to align it properly. And didnt remove the clutch plates.

Ive read a few posts about the pushrod breaking, which seems to be a hell of a bad time. Removing it was not as difficult as i thought.
If anyone can shed some light on this i would appreciate it.

Thank you

There are 2 pushrods and a sort of ball bearing with and indention on each side for the pushrods to fit into in between the two pushrods, Did that fall out while you were replacing the pushrod or get out of position? I had a similar problem on my fzr where all 3 of them got corroded and stuck together. It's pretty easy to do and not very expensive, you should be able to find them for pretty cheap and it would be a good idea to change all 3 while you are digging around in the engine.

Hope this helps

I know this is an old thread but had a question around the same lines. I got this 99 fzr600 that it snapped the pushrod and seal. Got both from Yamaha for around 20 each, but mine didn't have the ball you refer to and it's just one whole rod, not two. Why the difference? Years maybe?

It's 3 separate parts, with different part numbers; as you say, long rod, short rod, ball.

Have you adjusted the free play in part number 17/19 ?
