You do not state where your location is or the exact model of your bike.

I'll take a guess and presume if its a '95 then it is a FZR 600R 4JH foxeye.....anything else and the seat lock mechanism is as plain as day to find.

Look to the l/h side of the numberplate light, below the tail light.

The key releases the pillion seat...once removed a small lever just behind the centre of the riders seat is pulled back to unclip the riders seat.

Thanks mate I feel like a bit of an idiot now lol, it's my first bike so not something I'm used to looking for.
It's a 600r and that's about all I know, how do I go about finding the exact model I have? I'm in bedfordshire

If the seat lock is in the position I described then you have the model I guessed at. FZR 600R 4JH.

In the UK there were 2 models imported.

The FZR 600 3HE..which came in two variants...Twin round headlight and Trapezoid.( most parts interchange.)
The other is the FZR 600R 4JH(1995/96) a two year model run with foxeye or teardrop shaped lights.

They are totally different machines in many respects.

To complicate matters the 4JH is called a YZF 600 in USA which then causes further confusion as it is the same designation as the UK Thundercat

All models come in varying colourschemes.

A pic. surpasses over 1000 words.

You may notice I eventually got the lawn cut :yikes:

You would not be alone in the question of seat lock location.
I bought a Kawasaki ZXR 750 years ago.....it came with a brand new workshop manual with one dirty page.
The lad spent £16 to find out how to remove the riders seat once the pass. seat was removed.

Ah seems I have the 4JH version then :)

Just picked it up last week so I'm sure there will be plenty of things to confuse me over time

Thanks for your help

Very nice.

They seem a very underated motorcycle.
Cheap to purchase and readily available parts at economy prices.

The colourschemes are a bit of; like it or hate it though for most motorcyclists.

Unfortunately since I bought mine in April and stripped and refurbished most of the parts I have not had time to ride it even.

Never mind; there is next year hopefully.
