Rattling under acceleration

Hi there, I've just bought a 1989 FZR600, and rode it 3.5hrs back home. It went and handled great, and was great fun! May have seen 3 figures on the speedo..... 
When back and riding around town at lower speeds I noticed that it sometimes has a rattling noise under acceleration/deceleration. It seems more noticeable with a pillion passenger onboard.
I'm thinking it could be coming from the chain, but has anyone else experienced anything similar?
