Rebuilding the electrical system

Post by RikuSf »

Hey guys, I need some help in rebuilding my 92 FZR 600's electrical system. I'm new to motorcycle, so I don't really know how or where to start Noob .

Currently, the bike couldn't start at all. Every thing does not work, even the horn!

If any of you nice guys could list down all the tools and parts that I'll be needing, that will be great. I'll post some pictures of the bike's current state later.

Please, I need some guidance from the community :notworthy:

Need more info. When you say won't start does the starter spin the engine and it won't start?? Or does the starter not work at all?
Do you have nothing at all(no lights, nothing electrical)Check your main fuse to see if it's blown.
You need a volt/ohm meter to properly diagnose electrical problems and a little experience with auto/motorcycle wiring and circuts helps alot.

I think the starter doesn't work too. It's like, nothing is working right now. Checked all the lights, none is working.

Here are some pictures of the bike's electrical system, and a possible culprit for the problem (Can anyone tell me what the burnt thing is?)

WOW,If it were me I would be looking for a new wiring harness! The last pic looks like your main fuse and lots of other burnt parts.
You may need:Main relay,TCI,battery and other numerous items.I wouldn't even put 12 volts to that bike.I hope you got it really cheap, not a easy project for a beginner as you say you are. Your'e gonna need some help from a friend with some electrical experience.Good luck, keep us posted.

HOW did you manage to do that to the main fuse?! The whole point of that thing is to pop and PREVENT that from happening!

I'm with 4wred - just source a replacement harness from a wrecker or someone parting out. Trying to fix that will be nothing but heartache and aggravation.
