R6 Rear Brake MC upgrade

Hi guys,

Does anyone know whether I can remove the threaded piece of metal that attaches the master cylinder to the brake lever? The reason being; I have an R6 Brembo master cylinder that I was going to fit on my 1989 fzr600. However, the threaded metal piece is much longer on the original fzr600 master cylinder. I presume these pieces can't be removed easily, as it just keeps spinning and doesn't go anywhere? Here's a picture to illustrate.

Remove the rubber boot and then the circlip that is under it.
In fact I cannot recall if the circlip also retains the boot.
The adjuster will then drop out.
The end you cannot see at present is dome shaped and fits into a socket in the m/c piston only loosely, that's why it's spinning.

Make sure the swapped adjuster is a good fit in the replacement m/c (the circlip is the only retainer) before you use it.

You may find that the m/c requires more/less travel than previous depending on the replacements dia.

Remember that once the adjuster is removed that the piston and fluid is able to escape.

Thanks for the help. My current rear brake is rubbish so I wondered if a new master cylinder would improve things at all.

Thanks again.
