Removing the side tail cover

Ok, I feel like a bit of an idiot asking this...I was trying to get to the voltage regulator on my 94 FZR600...based on all the information on this site, I'm pretty sure its bad...and even if it isn't, it seems like good preventative maintenance given what can happen if it does fail.
So...I'm looking at the shop manual that says to remove the side cover, you remove the screw underneath the pilot seat, then "unhook the projections on the side cover from the frame grommets"...whatever the hell that means

I tried applying a bit of force...but I'm kind of afraid of breaking something. Can someone tell me if I'm missing something? How do I get this cover off?
Thanks
-Jesse

There are a couple of grommets you just pull the side cover off with some force. Try pulling one corner at a time so that you dont break them. Let us know what happens. I dont remember or not but is there a bolt you have to remove from the tail light section before it will pull off?

Hey thanks for the reply...The shop manual specifies a couple hooks into the tail section, but not a bolt...I'm gonna go give it a shot in a few minutes, and I'll look for a bolt just in case the Yamaha technical writers were "out to lunch" the day that chapter was researched. I'll post here how it turns out.

Cool, got it...just had to apply an appropriate amount of force. Thanks again for the help.

If your not careful those type of connectors break right off. I have the same kind on my Suzuki Intruder that when I received the bike I noticed they were already broke off. Good thing though, on this bike they can be fixed easily unlike the FZR.
