Need to tire up some wheels soon and the Metzeler Roadtec Z6 matches the front, but only a 160/60 in 18". If the width of them runs narrow (seems they did when I rode the ME77's way back when), then I might be OK in this arm (unlike an Avon that normally runs wide).
There's a Pirelli scorp that's 150/70 and close to what I'm looking for, but seems the height would be identical to a 160/60 (not counting the arch from pinching on the narrow rim), though the width would fit, no question.
Anyone run a Metzeler 160/60 rear in stock arm/wheel?

you seem very focused on the monstrous difference between a /60 and /70 profile.
Don't worry about it so much.
And a /70 is NOT going to "pinch" more than a /60

It's not the "pinching," it's the height difference. I ride old-school stuff most of the time (an Enfield Bullet in India, Yam 180 scooter in Thailand), this bike, and those like it, are too tall for my liking (or rather, sitting at lights anyway, I don't care about the height once I'm moving of course). Same with friends machines I ride with tall tires and suspension. I'm not looking to go taller OR wider. I'd be happy with 150/60, but the few bikes I've ridden with Shinko's (the only available tire in that size for a stock rim) I'm SO not impressed. Not many (really, none, in anything but a sport-tour) in 140/70 (and only Shinko in 140/60).reelrazor wrote:you seem very focused on the monstrous difference between a /60 and /70 profile.

Turns out after measurements on mine, that a 160 wouldn't work anyway (I'm already at about 9mm on each side with a 150), so I've procured a YZF arm and wheel, now just need to get a damn VW diesel engine together, in the Jetta and out of my garage so I can turn attention to more important things (swingarm swap). Then will be happy to have a 140/60 or 150/60 again in an array of options (at 17").
