New Master cylinder options

Does anyone know if a front brake master cylinder from a FZR 1000 EXUP would fit on to my 1988 FZR600?

My front brakes don't feel great even after a change of pads and some fresh fluid. They never have felt that good really so I thought a change of master cyclinder might help.

Or is there any other options for a master cyclinder that I could use?

You can use any master cylinder off of a Thundercat or R6, R1 etc. You'll have to fabricate a bracket to mount the resevoir. I would not buy that one in the picture because the cracks in the rubber means that moisture got in which probably caused corrosion inside the master cylinder. You would not know unless you bought it and it's not worth the risk.

A suggestion for getting all the air from a system is to syringe fluid via hose on nipple from the calliper to the master cylinder (backwards through the system)

This might save you the hassle of changing masters.

Excellent. Cheers for the help guys. I'll try and use a syringe and push fluid through the calliper. Is this just a case of basically opening the master cylinder top cap and then pushing through the fluid each calliper? I have a syringe from a Mountain Bike disc brake bleed kit which I can hopefully use. I'll give it a go anyway.

Before you push fluid through the caliper towards the master cylinder, pull the brake lever as far as you can then wrap it, tape it, bungee it, strap it or otherwise secure it in that position overnight. This will greatly help push trapped air towards the master cylinder. You will notice when you take off the strap the next day that your brake lever will be very firm.

Cheers guys.

When I installed the new brake pads the brake lever felt very soft. So I did the trick of zip tying the lever on over night which helped quite a lot. I'll give them a quick bleed and then zip tie the lever again and see if it helps.
