STiLL won't start lots of details

1992 fzr with 23K miles
Using a Haynes manual.

1. CARBS. cleaned out carbs, jets, etc. Blasted all paths with cleaner and air. Everything clear!
Reset float heights to 23mm. PO had them really low.
All fuel mixture screws set to 3 turns out. PO had them at 7.
Bench synced with guitar string
No missing O rings.
Emptied out fuel, replaced with fresh gas (1 gallon--testing on reserve)
Opened up drain plug in one carb, gas dripped out, I'm assuming others are OK since I just did the cleanout.
No jet kit
Boots from carb to head, carb to air box are good.
Fuel pump clicks and delivers gas to carbs.

2. Ignition
Using one of those portable starter units with freshly charged battery, always over 12.5V.
new plugs (autolite 4303)
replaced one spark plug cap with NGK, all now in spec.
Getting white spark, not blue, not yellow, on all plugs. Didn't do the 6mm test.
Double checked that all spark plug wires go to right cylinder from the coils.
All coil primary and secondary values are within spec.
Tested kickstand switch...good.
Missing clutch switch, but all starting is done in neutral.
Neutral gear light is on, oil light lights when cranking starter
Pickup coil is 116 ohm should be 135-162, but I'm testing at 85, not 68F. I am getting spark.
Stator 3 wires are in spec.

3. Misc.
Old style VRR, but shouldn't matter (?) since I'm not trying to charge a battery. Also, no apparent damage from VRR like burned out connections.

Checked out all fuses, connectors associated with the ignition wires. All good, and I blew in contact cleaner and applied dielectric grease after checking.

yoshi muffler; air box has a dry looking K&N, but the air box is on loosely

Under the seat, there is a largish black wire with a spade connector in a white housing that branches off the harness by itself. What does it connect to? Under the seat I have the starter solenoid, the 4 fuse "box", the one fuse main "box", the TDI. Anything else supposed to be there?

So, when I try to start it, the starter motor turns (I think the motor also, how to check?).
I start with cold engine, choke on, no throttle.
Engine does not catch.
Sometimes, after about 10 seconds of cranking the starter, I might get a gentle fart from the exhaust. Nothing else.

Guys, I've been at this for a LONG time!

Your pick up coil is within factory spec 80-120 ohms, the Haynes manual has many errors and 135-162 ohms for the pick up coil is one of the errors.

You have fuel and spark, I'm thinking tight valves and low compression may be the issue. Yours has done 23k I believe the valves should be adjusted at 24k.

Good luck.
