NEED front right engine cover asap

Does anyone have a front right engine cover? It's the one that looks like a backwards 6. And do the YZF600 covers fit???

So this guy across the stoplight from me just seemed lost, first he had his right turn signal on, then he had his left turn sig on, but when the light turned green, he went straight and he still had his left turn sig on, well, i started to go left...........corrected myself when i saw he didn't know what he was doing and i let off the gas to grab the brake, the bike stalled and fell on the right side. The worst part is that when the bike fell it busted open my engine cover and oil spilled all over the road. Then when i tried to pick it up, the oil had seeped around my foot, i slipped, and it seemed to drop harder and more oil came out. There is no worse feeling that seeing your bike laying on the ground with craploads of oil oozing out of it, knowing there is so much oil everywhere the only thing you can do is let it lay there because it's too slippery to have a good foothold when picking it up. So needless to say, i need an engine cover, mainly because i want to replace mine, but also so i'll have something to throw at the dude that shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car in the first place. Does anyone have a front right engine cover? It's the one that looks like a backwards 6. I'd like one that doesn't have any deep scratches. Some surface scratches is fine, I'll sand and polish it like my old one was anyway. i'm currently digging through ebay trying to find one. This is m only means of transportation right now, so the sooner i get this the better. Thanks for reading, and watch out for ignorant drivers and old people

Rumor has it that YZF600 ones do fit, but they are not necessarily built any better.

I recommend that people save up their cash and get NRC or Factory Pro engine covers. They're a very good investment.

Agreed
I actually just bought a set of NRC covers, and will be installing them when they get here. That's one of the reasons why I happen to have a spare OEM cover laying around. :whistle

so are the NRC and Factory Pro covers tougher? Are they harder to crack?

They don't crack. Since our bikes cannot use sliders, these are the equivalent. Very tough.

Dang. I didn't know Factory Pro made any covers for our bikes. I'll have to check and see if I payed too much for my NRC's...

NRCs are cheaper. FP are almost $200 a pop IIRC.

I paid a llittle over 200 shipped for my NRC RS cover, but only 105 shipped for my LS Cover. Did I get ripped off?

ok, so i'm more than likely going with the YZF600 cover, the guy that i'm getting the cover from has both bikes at his house and he sent me the following email. He also said that if it doesn't work for some reason that I can send it back and he'll send the other one. Plus, i placed my busted up cover on top of my friends yzf600 cover and everything lines up and the two covers have the same exact curvature excluding the taper at the top and bottom. With this said, i honestly think (from comparing the pictures on ebay) the NRC yzf600 cover looks better than the NRC fzr cover. I'll definitely post saying whether it fits or not when I get it here.

"I just mocked both FZR and YZF covers up on the same YZF600 engine and learned something. Notwithstanding different part numbers, both appear to fit fine from a strictly mechanical standpoint. The material difference in the parts appears to be that the YZF cover has a different shape to it so the top of the YZF bike's ABS plastic side fairing will clear the cover. The FZR cover doesn't allow this.

The up-shot of this is that it looks to me like the FZR cover won't fit the YZF, but the YZF cover WILL fit the FZR. You might want to check your FZR side fairings and confirm it, but I think the YZF engine cover will be fine. And look cooler."

Where from? I checked their website and it says the YZF600 Thundercat ... they will only sell the cover not the steel slider as they're not making them anymore. Of course he said it would only be $80 because of that.

Am I looking at the wrong model ?

:headscratch:

I couldn't find anything except NRC on E-bay. Too damn much money.

YZF600 cover does fit, I got one for a pretty good price since the bike had been laid down. I just grinded down below the scratches and polished it up. So it looks like chrome now but you can't really tell in the picture because i was in the shade of the house. I thought about posting a how-to on polishing aluminum to look like chrome, do people already know how or is it something i should post? Anyway, now it looks out of place because it's the cleanest part on my engine..lol. And I thought i'd put some pics up of the other stuff I polished. The triple tree looks SWEET through the red windscreen.
