Sooo my bike needs the vavle clearences checked I'm gathering the tools to do it as we speak. My main concern is it is my daily and if i do need new shims I will need them quick. Who has a bunch laying around so i know to contact first?

Also what are yall doing for coolent temp monitoring? Stock stuff?? Mine stock gauge or sensor(haven't looked into it) is not working and i was not sure if it was worth fixing the stock stuff or adding something aftermarket in.

(i live in texas so it gets pretty hot here and i like to monitor that stuff religiously)

Some dealers will swap shims for a minimal charge. Bring in your old one and tell them the one you need. I'd also try to find out why your stock gauge does not work. It could be as simple as a crapped out wire.

I have a whole shim kit I was thinking about putting on here. I can look to see what I have when I get home.

As to the stock temp gauge and sensor. Remove the plastic tank cover you may also need to remove the airbox. The sensor or temp sender unit is screwed into the aluminium thermostat housing close to the radiator filler cap near the steering stem. Disconnect the Green/Red wire from the temp sender unit and short it to ground. The temp gauge should then go all the way up to the red, if so the sender unit is duff and needs replacing. If not you have a faulty temp gauge or a wiring problem.
