Is this an FZR fork ??

I bought a fork off of craigslist that was advertised as FZR 600. I have a 1996 FZR 600, and I mainly bought this one because it had drilled in riser mounts on the triple, and a handlebar built in - I wanted to swap the triple out with mine, to get a higher riding position.

I disassembled my front end, to0k old triple off and tried to do the swap, but it was too small...it wouldn't fit over my stock FZR fork tubes and ignition post at the top. I was pretty upset.

What's important is that the triple on my stock FZR has the code "Y-1" on the bottom of it. This particular triple has "Y-2" on the bottom.

I have embedded picture links in the post. Does anyone have any idea which model this belongs to? Maybe an earlier model FZR? Although I doubt earlier years use different forks...

Earlier FZ and FJ models had the air caps on the forks (just a fad that was soon discontinued),although the Fz model had a link pipe between sides. Diameters have changed over the years. 3HE 1989 FZR 600 are 38mm dia for example.
You could salvage the mounts from the new folks and drill your existing yoke if you were determined to go that route.

Fantastic, thank you for clearing this up. I was wondering what the deal with those air caps were. I'll try and work with it.

Update; Looked at the casting marks before replying yesterday but had little time to research;

46X refers to the FZ400 model circa 1986.FZ 600 is virtually the same bike but larger engine.

I've never seen that before. I was going to comment that the triple is not FZR, but then I saw the last pic.
