I'm really inclined to do an R6 nose conversion to my FZR and want to know which is, 99-02 or 03-05 easier to do? Any tips or ideas are welcome

They both will require the same work, and alot of fabrication of brackets, but it is not impossible.
I completely got rid of the FZR brackets fabercated a custom mounting bracket on my bike neck, and was able to mount a stock r6 fairing upper cage. And with a bit of glass I was able to blend it into my FZR sides.
But that also facilitated a dash and headlight swap.

Hey Genesis thanks for the reply, I had saw your thread about this viewtopic.php?t=1053#p8695 but seems there are not pictures of the finished product on it.

On that thread you posted a silver FZR that looked great but on the bike you modded it seemed you get greater gap between your upper fairing and the sides, why was that or is just ilusion and gaps are about the same?

Also noticed that you initially started with the R6 original front Bracket but later you rolled your own, was the R6 bracket never to work for the mod what was the problem?

Have not finished yet, decided todo a r6 swinger and 660. ;)
Careful modding is addictive

the forks on that one changed the position of the clampons, they use different forks, but with the stock USD forks the r6 fairing was coming in contact with the clampons. So I had to change the position to higher. I also wanted to make my side fairings stayed OEM, because those are more likely to be damaged if dropped or low side. Easy replacement.

I did start with the aluminum one, but because I can weld, and also have great friends, I found a steel aftermarket one on eBay that allowed me to customize the mount, but someone could certainly use the OEM one and do the bike bracket differently. BTW I still have that OEM fairing bracket if your interested in buying it.

Just try to reason and plan every aspect of the mod out.

Let me know if you have any questions. And I am sure anyone else on this board would be willing to answer as well.
