1993 fzr 600 resto

Post by tclayton9 »

Imagetoday I've made more progress with my resto. after breaking my sprocket cover in half, breaking one of the sprocket cover bolts off in the engine casting, grinding one of the side railing bolts out, and wrecking both kickstand switch bolts, I got the motor out and now I'm ready to sand blast. the nooks and crannies all full of rust spots so I said to hell with sandpaper.

I picked the motor up and sat it on the table in my work area and my dad walks in and tells me with 20,000 I should re-ring the pistons and get the heads worked. I told him that would be a good idea but the first thing on my mind right now is paint and other parts. pictures are coming soon once I figure out how post pictures on here again.

Good luck with the restoration. It sounds like you are off to a somewhat rocky start with stuff breaking and having to drill stuff out, but all in all that sounds pretty normal.

thanks. I found A shop that will sand blast my bike and power coat it for 250 so more than likely I'm taking that route.
