Hello All,

I bought some new braided hoses for my 91 FZR 600 ,and went to get all the fluid out, on doing so I have realized that the screws on the front master cylinder are completely burred and I can not undo them, I wonder if anyone has any tips on how to get them out? I have ordered some new screws, but in the meantime any tips on how to get the wrecked ones out would be great.

By the way my signature still isn't working ,any tips on that too?

Use an impact driver with a little valve lapping paste on the tip, or dremel a groove to take a straight screwdriver, or use a hammer and punch to rotate the screws, or just drill off the heads. Once the cover is removed, the remaining screw can be gripped with vice-grips.

We had to set a minimum number of posts for the signature to appear. I believe it is 15. I'll dig into it.

What was happening was that we were getting SPAMBOTS loading a signature and autoposting to get their signature online.

EDIT :: Found it and reduced it to >5 posts. You should see your signature now.

I had the same problem with carb bowl screws recently.
I hammered a screwdriver into the top of the screw to create a flat-tip screwdriver slot- did this twice to create one slot on each side.
Hammer it down in the direction you want the screw to go, so the slot is angled a bit, and less likely to strip again.
By the time i had both slots created, the screw was already coming loose.

Then I put allens in to replace the carb float bowl screws, about 75 cents each.

Great tip, also the allen idea is a cracking one will see if they do them for master cylinder caps

If you switch to allens, go easy when you torque them as you can very quickly strip the cast carb body out.

Rob; be wary of using countersunk cap head screws (allen) in the reservoir cap.The allen key used is tiny for this thread size and you will rapidly be back to your current situation.
There is a vendor on UK Ebay who sells the correct X head screws in stainless for 99p / pair. I fit them to all mine if originals are rough.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FZR600 ... _411wt_992

Thanks man I am gonna order a batch I still haven't got round to get the burred screws out yet, so still haven't put my new hoses on yet
