A friend of mine is selling me a complete 03 R6 swing arm minus the rubber on the tire for a 100 dollars. Can it be mod to fit a 91 FZR600? What else will I need to make it fit?

Thanks

Lots of modding to make that one work. There are some threads for that mod or swap whatever you want to call it. If your looking for a fatter tire then there are different options and one of them is in the works right now in another thread here.

JSPH,
suggest you read all the thread so s/arm swaps at least 5 or 6 of them arround and select what you want to do.

I am int he middle of one of my how-to's with lots of pictures of a very simple bolt on swing arm the 3EN.
However there is one gotcha (as i found out at 17,00 today the 600 caliper will not work with that swing arm's special calper bracket .}

it shouldnt be a problem if you mechanicly inclined . and have the *RIGHT* tools for the job< in my case borrowed a 32mm socketfrom a local tire shop, bought an impact wrench <electric> and then took it back . So be prepared ..

I think the easiest swing arm mod would be the YZF 600 being that most the modding is on the actual swing arm and not the FZR frame. Its all in what you want it to look like and your skills.

Good luck on which ever one you try. I plan on the YZF 600 swap.

I looked at the R6 swing arm write up, it looks good, but out of my league.

I built myself a little check list of stuff I need to buy. I have 2 cycle salvage yards within 2 hours of here to try and procure parts from. In my last post, I said it was out of my league, what I meant was I have no place to do the work, or the tools to do it. I am an Aircraft Metal Smith in the US Navy, and also I work with composites. I just wish I had a garage. Any pointers on my parts list?

yea get the swingarm , rim,brake arm , front and rear sprocket 520 zx 634 front yzf rear ,chain <520> , make sure u got the spacers a new set of swingarm bearings and your pretty much good togo , a cutoff wheel , bench grinder , theres some other stuff<alot > lol , but with that u can pretty much get it assembeled, a metric socket set up to 32 mm for the sprocket nut .. this is if your going yzf swingarm and wheel though if you want R6 "" ABS"" can help you there ...
