oversized/fat grips

Anyone here running fat/oversized grips on their bike? I put new ones 2 years ago when I got the bike, but they're not oversized. They're gel padded and they're physically in good shape and not worn down. I do have long fingers and big hands( I can palm a normal size basketball in each hand) and I always wear my riding gloves that have gel padding in the palms, but after riding my hands cramp up from having to try and wrap my hands and fingers around the thin grips and bars. :swear Anyone have any ideas for grips? I did modify my controls and cut the throttle tube down so I could use 5" grips.

I think the bars are pretty much a standard size so anybody that makes fat grips should fit the FZR. Maybe you can make your own somehow.

You want fat grips !

These are massive but will need the ends cut off for the weights to fit.
They are firm outer with a slightly flexible inner.
They should be available in USA as all 60's/70's Brit bikes had these fitted and they are a common aftermarket part.

Have you considered trying to make your own by wrapping a pair of grips with the type of "Sports Tape" that you usually use on baseball bats & other types of racquets? You know what I'm talking about? That tape that is slightly tacky on the outside to improve your grip. I just don't know about the longevity of the tape or whether dirt will stick to it & begin to look grungy.

I recall a pair of grips from the late 70’s & early 80’s that were hexagonal shaped & larger diameter than standard. I have not seen them recently though. I did find this while I was looking for them though. This might work for you. http://www.grabongrips.com/motorcycle.php http://www.grabongrips.com/custom_grips.php

Good luck & please let us know what you find out.
