No lights, no juice

I've had my 1992 FZR for a while - I put 25,000 miles on her - then parked her for a couple of years.

I've decided that I want to restore her. So I went out to the garage to take a look. Obviously the battery was dead. I bought a new one, brought it home, and hooked it up. Then ... nothing.

No lights, no horn, no ignition. I know my way around a car, but I'm not a motorcycle mechanic. I checked the battery, it's solid. Would that be a bad VR or something else?

I did some forum searching, but couldn't find an exact situation like mine. :tks: in advance.

Check the main 30A fuse on the left side behind the seat panel. Are you getting voltage on the brown wire coming out of the key switch?

All fuses are good. I'll check the brown wire with my multimeter when I get home from work.

I have a similar problem no power just died when I turned the key. What was the rest of the info about the brown wire. As far a I can tell there should not be power to brown with the key off. I have voltage to all 3 wires red blue and brown. An I correct thy it should not have power or what. I even checked with the switch disconnected and power to all 3. Any advice please help.

The key switch connects the hot red wire to the brown and blue wires. If you have battery voltage on these wires with the switch removed, you have a major wiring issue.
