Bought this 95 FZR600R and I'm in the process of restoring it, at some point before I owned it someone chopped off the wires for the throttle position sensor. I was told by a local bike shop that this sensor cannot be replaced and that I have to buy a new set of carbs.
I don't believe that, I think they were just trying to get more money out of me.
Anyone know where I can purchase a sensor and pigtail lead?
...and yes I've already tried online searches (including bike bandit), I think this is more of a junk yard part then something i can order online.

Picture of the sensor, I'll take a better one when I get a chance.

Ok - lots of confusion going on around here. The '95-96 4JH YZF600 / FZR600R didn't have a TPS; that was the '97+ 4TV models. Given that you're referring to it as a FZR600R (the UK designation), yet your location is Florida, I'm not entirely sure what you have.
That said, the part number for an easily replaced TPS for a '97 ThunderCat is 4TV-85885-00-00. The best price locally for a new one is
Partzilla at $183 + shipping. There's on on
Ebay right now for $26 + $13 shipping from Ireland.

I appologize for he confusion, I'm new to Yamaha's. I was told it is an FZR600R but it may just be a 600. It's not a true TPS because it's a carbourtaed bike, it's a sensor I was told, by the local bike shop here, is used to control spark advance.

A TPS is a TPS, whether it adjusts fuel-air mix in an EFI bike or just spark advance. I say again, the '95 4JH didn't have a TPS - of any sort - while the later model did.
It's entirely possible you have a Frankenbike, also known as a "Bitsa" - bitsa this bike, bitsa that bike ...
If that's a 4TV carb rack on a 4JH machine (with a 4JH ignitor box that doesn't know what to do with a TPS input), then it does make sense that the TPS wires are trimmed off, and there is no point in trying to replace the TPS.

Thanks for the info, that actually makes alot of since for it to be pieced together. It had a custom coil setup on it, a toggle switch for the fan, and the voltage regulator doesn't match the one they show on bike bandit.
