Fuel pump alternative

I posted yesterday on another forum about a fuel pump problem. My fuel pump is shot so I've decided to take a 12v fuel pump that has 4 psi and fuels at 28gph and wire it to my bike. I am also going to buy a fuel pressure regulator to cut the pressure down to about 3 psi cause I believe the stock pump max is 2.6 psi. To wire it, I am going to cut the red and black wires from my old pump and use the connector. Then I am going to connect the connector to the red and black wires to the new pump and plug it up. What do you guys think

Before you spend the $$ on a regulator, hook it all up and see if the float valves are capable of withstanding the 4 psig.

Hook it up, turn it on - does fuel pour out the carbs as it pushes past the valves?

DO NOT BUY THAT ABOVE PUMP!!! ...it's for diesel only!

But I would also like to know if those 3-4 psi (gasoline) pumps work, I'm doing a restoration on a 95 600R and the pump in it is also shot.

How are things going with this pump? mines fried and I have to find something other than the $500 unit at my local Yamaha dealer.

Works great with no problem. I went to advanced auto parts and picked up a pump with a psi no greater than 4.
