hey guys im lookin at putting in a stage 2 jet kit, I called my local yamahammer dealership and they told me that they didn't make a stage 2 kit... does anybody know where I can buy one online or does someone on here have a NEW set for sale?????

Both Factory Pro and DynoJet make carb jetting kits.

When they talk about "stages," is that just the number of sizes above stock? Would a stage 2 be a 112.5 main?


Factory pro makes a nice stage 1 kit. You could probably specify which size main jet you wanted with it, otherwise the stage 1 just comes with 110 and 105 mains.

They usually tell you what is in the kit. The higher the stage, the more tuning it will generally require. Going higher in stages means that you have aftermarket intake or exhaust or both.

rage is right when he said that a stage 2 is for a bike with aftermarket exhaust and intake... stage 1 is for either or... stage 3 is for all the above and with a modified engine...

hamaya, I know that my bike has 105 mains in it... but I honestly don't know what size the different stages are

I'm working on jetting my bike and what I've noticed is that the major difference is the needles and the higher stages tend to have more in them. Stage 7 kits tend to have springs and air jets and possibly require drilling.

ok and another question I have a slip on exhaust and k&n air filters should I just go with a stage 1 or should I go with a stage 2.... I talked with another shop and they said since the slip on doesn't alter the exhaust hardly at all he said I might be ok with just a stage 1... what do you guys think???

"Stage 1 Jet kits" are IMHO the biggest scam to come down the pike since the Teflon 'oil savers'. They are packaged by people who do not know what you've done to your bike, how you ride it, and at what elevation and under what conditions. Make friends with the local go-fast bike shop guy; take inventory of your current jets and configuration, and buy a small selection of main jets. Tune YOUR bike to YOUR riding conditions.

so I might be better off just sayin screw it and riddin stock and not wasting my money

For what you've done, you MIGHT see an improvement going up one or two mains. That said, bikes tend to be over-jetted from the factory, so when stupid riders take their air filters off they don't immediately have a lean seize and go crying for a warranty. This was far more prevalent in the 2-stroke days, but it still holds true with the diesels. See what a general tune-up does for you - fresh plugs, clean and sync the carbs, set the idle screws - THEN see what your performance is like.

Have you done any testing? What makes you think you need rejetting, other than the copy in an ad from DynoJet?

I haven't done any testing and the reason I was wanting to re jet it is mainly from me and my dad talking about better proformance and goin a lil faster... I was working getting the carbs synced and then found out that I have a torn diaphragm.... yay....

Well, fixing that will improve performance, make you go faster ...

before I knew about that "slight" leak I did 105 on the 3 carbs that were workin properly

ok so I was talkin with a friend of mine and im pretty sure that with my K&N filters im getting to much air and not enough gas.... would the jets help that or should I just take it to the shop and see what they say???

What symptoms are you getting? Have you done a plug chop with new, clean, fresh-from-the-box plugs, popped into a warmed-up engine? One or two jet sizes lean or rich is hard to spot with a street-going 4-stroke. Are you running pods?
