I had my bike idling because I just added some new coolant and in about 15 mins I start smelling something besides exhaust fumes. It smelled familiar but I couldn't place it. So I'm checking for leaks etc and I spot this. The connector to the alternator is toasted. :swear Here's the pics.

Answered over at the Archives; order the D3BS (stator side) and D3BP (harness side) connector kits from Alex at Corsa Technic.

It seems that the alternator connection likes to get really hot when it's corroded, so if you use regular connectors to clean that up till you new pieces arrive use dielectric grease to put in the connectors. maybe pull off the alternator and check inside for a overly dark winding, my sons 00' GSXR 750 did the same thing and there is a nasty looking section in the alternator.
