Air/fuel mix screw
What is the factory setting on this screw adjustment. Just got this bike and she starts up with choke all the way up. But when I slowly back away on the choke..she dies. Some time it backfires when idling with choke on. I think it may be the air/fuel mix screws. My friend said you can tell if the air fuel mix is good by thermo temping the exhaust pipes at the bends by the headers. How hot are they supposed to be?

Re: Air/fuel mix screw
You will want your pilot adjustment screws right around 3 turns out. If your carbs still have brass covers over the screws you will need to carefully drill and insert a screw and pull the caps off. A lot of times they screw themselves in or out. I normally just touch the headers when it starts. Lol, Don't do this, you will burn your self. You can just sprinkle water on them and see how fast it evaporates.
