Best suspension for road use

My bike came with a scratched fork tube. Fixing the shock will likely cost almost as much as swapping in an R6 shock. Is a 2002 R6 shock the best shock to swap in? Is a FZ6? YZF600R? GSX? GSXR? shock a better bet?

I have about 2000KM of riding experience and ride the bike in stop and go traffic fairly often, windy highways... Will I notice the difference between fixing the stock rock and swapping in an R6 Shock when riding in stop and go traffic? windy highways? rough roads?

Hi W86,
Any front shock setup can be fitted to any bike BUT:-
QUESTIONS TO ASK:-
will the steering bearings from the donor fit the FZR,

will the steering stem be too long too short

will the FZR front wheel and rotors fit in the calipers on the donor front end

will the new front end make the wheel base longer/shorter and so alter handling in the turns

will a new angle of "attack" (slope of the forks ) effect trail

ANSWERS:-
steering bearings can be altered with bushings /shims

steering stem too Long can be cut and "slug" welded to the correct length

Ditto if too short
OR
replace steering stem with all thread rod & spacers see the WIKI

Because of the FZR rotors you can space the wheel in donor forks but need to shim calipers (or mate plates can be used)

The forks can be slid up /down in the clamps to get the original wheel base back to as close to original as possible

If you want to see examples of different forks on various bikes look at the stuff on my site to see what i have done in the past.
