Hey there, im having some major starting problems that are starting to get me irritated... I dont know where to begin.. Have some ideas but not sure.. I can start my usually great after sitting on a trickle charger all night.. But as soon as i turn it off and try to turn it back on the solenoid just clicks.. other times, while riding i loose all electrical power (no lights, no blinkers) and can barely get it over 4000rpms... When that happens and i turn the bike off, i get no power to anything when i turn it back on. No headlights or nothing, doesnt even click on solenoid, no neutral light nothing.. You can even jump it off a car.. You can push start it but you have to get it going really fast or otherwise it wont take. Im not sure what else to say on here to help someone give me ideas... I did order a rectifier and solenoid that wont be here till Tuesday but wondering if anyone else has ideas on if its something different.. Thanks for your help

Are you sure the battery is not faulty?

Battery is only two weeks old.. But i got the time to take it apart today and found out my rectifier melted and while doing so it must have blown my main fuse off battery.. I knew my rectifier was going bad because it wasnt chargin my battery all the way so i ordered that the other day, but something made it melt and then im guess blew my fuse some how.. maybe a voltage spike.. Anyways i replaced fuse and got my rectifier today and it works again. but thanks for response!

I had the same problem about august 2012, i posted on here and had to make a new username because i forgot my old one. anyway no one could help. i talked to a lot of people who worked on bikes, though i never took it to a real shop. but the bike is still sitting in my garage. i was going to just go ahead and take a stab at rewiring the whole thing. my tach is shot i know my stator is shot i had replaced the regulator. this problem of yours sounds much like mine. I can pop start it and it runs shitty cus of the stator, and you cant start it, my oil light would always come on when i would hit start and it would do nothing, then when i pop started it the oil light would go off when i got into gear, my tach is blown, if you keep running your bike your stator is probly fried and VR is too your gonna wreck your bike even more. i gave up and on mine but if u figure it out let me knw. anyone know of a guide to rewire the bike? i tried searching but see nothing

Hey Tlipps89,
the reason it melted the VR is the stator coil is going out. and produced an overcharge to the VR and over time reduced it to goo! (overheated it). I believe a buisness named Rick's stators, makes and offers one on ebay that actually charges at a lower rpm and is a direct bolt in replacement. think thier out of Florida maybe....

im having close to the same problem. I took it to the shop and the ignition cable had come loose and blew the main fuse. The headlight they fixed by lubing the start button. Now i have the issue of it dying on me while riding. The only difference is now my electrics stay on after it dies

If I had more info on your symptoms, I could possiblely point you in the right direction. many problems can assist in the engine stalling out. electronics/excess heat...etc..
