Hi guys, I'm a noob. Gonna get that out of the way right now. I'm looking at a 1990 fzr600. Overall it's in great mechanical condition. The body has some scuffs, but I wouldn't expect it not too being a 90. My question is how much is too much for this? It has 26k on her and 9k on the rebuilt motor. He won't go under 1600 for it. Good deal? Bad deal?

Check it in KBB. For my location my 96 fzr600 trade in value is around 900 and retail value is about 1500.

i got my 96 with 17.5k for 12 granted it didnt have side fairings but if it did i wouldnt have paid more then 14. i would say a reasonable offer if everything is intact would be 1400

I would be looking at the $1100-$1300 range. That is a lot of miles on the bike and the 9k motor is already rebuilt, so no telling how long that will last.
Just so you know, fairings are almost impossible to come by, so scuffs are a bigger issue than you think.

I think it depends on where you live. For example, here in San Francisco I've seen listings for the FZR go from as low as $950 (doesn't run, been sitting for a couple years, major cosmetic damage but several upgrades: H.I.D's , Slip-ons , full exhaust, R6 tail conversion) to as high as $3,000 (runs perfect, all the fairings with no damage to them at all). But, maybe that's just in San Fran....

Here in St. Louis, they are asking for $2000 for stock FZRs not in that good of shape. Course, no ones buying them.
Here are some examples ::

I can get an older R6 for a little more...

You can drive out to IL and buy mine for 2k. Will be way better than his 1600. I wouldn't pay more than 1300ish for a stock fzr these days. Hell, I probably wouldn't even pay a grand, but I'm jaded. 1600 is too much though.
I got 1600 for a bone stock fzr with 2600 miles on it. Front fairing was damaged but the damage had been fixed and repainted.

Thanks for the input guys! I decided to pass on it. I think there's better deals to be found. It's basically impossible to find a decent bike for 2 grand or less over where I'm from
