1990 FZR 600 r6 bolt on Rear shock?
2009 R6 fully adjustable rear shock assembly with high speed/low speed dampening, pre-load, and rebound adjustment
Does anyone know if this is true.
Does the 2009 Yamaha R6 Rear shock bolt right on to the 1990 FZR600 suspension mounts without any modifications? Lower bones and upper shock mount?

Nope, does not bolt right up. You will need spacers and longer bolts as well as shorter dogbones. Then you will need to grind one side of the bottom of the shock fork in a curve so it will clear the knuckle and not bind. After all that it bolts right up. I sell the kit of spacers and dogbones. You're on for the shock and bolts.silversleeper wrote:2009 R6 fully adjustable rear shock assembly with high speed/low speed dampening, pre-load, and rebound adjustment

I think I've heard the gen1 fz1 rear shock will mount up with no modification.

If you look thro the WIKI and on my personal site you will find that various shocks that can bolt right in with the minimum work over (TK has a good kit if you do not have access to a workshop )

Do any of you know the length of the rear shock from bolt hole to bolt hole?
my friend has a rear shock from an atv i was considering trying out because its really cheap...
this one is 15" long, my bike is at my shop otherwise i would measure it myself.. i want it to be a little longer to raise the bike up a tad...
Thanks!!!

TJK,
I'm with ReelRazor on this the 15" shock actually will not fit on the bike, to see how tight the setup is take a look on my web site for the fun I had going over to a modern shock and a sensible swing arm.
http://www.saltmine.org.uk/fzr/3tj-mod.html
The first screens of that page are about swing arm swap but the latter half is about the shock swap and the pictures give a very real sense of how tight it all is down there.

Re: 1990 FZR 600 r6 bolt on Rear shock?
hello I am new to this forum, But I put on a 2002 busa shock on, and it works great. I can have about 400 lbs on the bike ,without it sagging in the rear. Only problem was had to cut some of plastic off the inner fender, took awhile to put it in. but works like a charm, got the shock off ebay for 50.00, V ery happy with the shock, I have a 1990 fzr 600.
