Starts, Runs, then looses all power???

So, i went to drive it tonight and got about half a mile from home and i lost all power, would not go past 3000 rpm's and when i tried it bogged like crazy. As soon as i got back and in neutral, same thing. i turned it off and the lights went out, key still in the off position. I turned it a few times and nothing, no power to anything. I let it sit for 10 min and tried again, success. Fired up and had full range of throttle. But im nervous to take it out and die on the side of the road, especially the highway. Any ideas, im lost!

Usually that means a crap battery. I've had it happen before where it starts and runs but as soon as the battery voltage starts to drop it starts to bog and won't go above 3k. Now it could be something else but I would check the battery first since it's easy.

i have a motobatt battery in her now, MBTZ10U. 10 volt battery, it was what came with the bike. Is that sufficient or should i get a 12V battery in its place. I found a 12V mottobatt with these specs, are they okay to use on my FZR600?
MotoBatt SKU Ah CCA L x W x H (inches) L x W x H (mm)
MBTX12U 14 200 5.94 3.42 5.12 151 87 130 4 QuadFlex

YB-12AL is the Yuasa battery for the FZR. I believe motobatt will cross reference, but yes you should have a 12v battery for the FZR. It's very picky about battery power.

The wasted-spark TCI ignition is very power-hungry; if the battery is getting low, then the starter won't leave enough for a decent spark.
I've been pondering a drop-in "dumb" CDI module, driven by the TCI signal, that would make the system far more robust and indifferent to battery state ...

The "10" in MBTZ10U is a reference to the battery's amperage rating-NOT it's voltage.
It's got six cells right? 1.5volts per cell makes it a 12V battery

Okay, so I replaced the battery. Brand new 12v battery, did the same damn thing. I ran it down the block and all power took a shit. Came back for a minute and then went away again. Took it back home and turned it off with the key still in the on position, all lights turned off, everything was a loss. Would not turn back on for a few minutes, then turned on and turned over once then went off again. What the Hell!!!

Yeah - loose, corroded or broken wire, switch, or terminal.
