Cant figure out the specs for valve shims!
Okay, so i have looked in the wiki and searched for it in the search bar. I get a lot of numbers and i can not determine the sized i need to buy. I know one number is 7.48mm but i dont know the other. I am kind of new to bikes, so if someone could help me out i would greatly appreciate it. Does anyone on the site sell them?

Re: Cant figure out the specs for valve shims!
It's a process. You have to measure the clearance first, then calculate the shim thickness you need for each individual shim.
The number you have 7.48mm is the diameter of the shim. They come in differing thicknesses like #120, or #170 (this is mm without the decimal -i.e. 120 is 1.2mm)
The whole procedure is written up on this forum. If I had the link handy I would link it.
Anyone help?

cool, so the bike has to be decommissioned for a few days while i do it and feel the gaps and order the new shims if necessary. If they are in good shape, no replacement, but what should i be checking for the gaps. .010-.020?

Do yourself a favor and read the manual and understand what you are doing before attempting. Screwing this up is one of the shortest routes to grenading your engine. Even with the manual it can be a little tricky for the inexperienced. Take your time.
