I just replaced my gauge cluster because my tach was not working. With that being said the miles on the new cluster gauge are wrong by at least 70,000 miles. How do i roll back my miles on my current gauge to the correct number?

It's probably easier to Roll it Forward.

What i mean is: FZR odometers go back to 00000-0 at 100k miles. So if you are pretty high already just roll it forward til you reach zero, and then keep going til you reach your target mileage.

I'm 90% sure our gauges work off a mechanical cable; you should be able to hook it up to a power drill and advance the odometer.

Maybe someone has actually done this and they will chime in... Good Luck

Thanks "pnbell", i will surely try it... i didnt know it starts over at 100k...

Of course you may find out that using the drill method will take you 4 days or something! Ha ha

There might be a quicker way by splitting the case and changing the number wheels manually.

Just do NOT let the MAN know you have done this trick even if it is "legit" they get very twitchy about it

it is a mechanical drive with a plastic end at the end that connects to the speedo hub on the front tire. but it is very "illegal" to change speedo numbers. what i would say is if you do this take pictures of the before numbers and take a picture of the after numbers so that if it comes into question you can show that you just in fact transferred numbers from one speedo to another.

Good advice for sure just make sure the photo's are time stamped by the camera in the actual photo NOT just the file time& date(which is easily "cheated"
Over here in the UK I would say get the bike MOT'd (govt inspected) where the law requires your odometer millage legally noted at the timne of inspection then do the change immediately afterwards just to keep you in the "system" legally.

I had my bike MOT'd recently and was queried as to why i had only added 6 miles in the 18Months since the last inspection, I showed the guy my surgery scars then he accepted my figures :-}

i have a feeling they are going to ask me the same thing when i go to re-new the registration on my bike in janurary. but she has been in pieces for the last several weeks while i get the parts together to do the 660 mod and not to mention i am in japan and she is in the states .
