Slow to warm up?

Does anyone know how long the FZR usually takes to warm up? Its been about 70 degrees here when I start it up and it takes quite a while. Also, is it OK to just ride it with about half choke for a little while and then push it in or should I wait for it to be completely warm and not ride it until the choke is all the way in?

K,
the FZR 6's are very cold hearted beasts and can take a full 10 mins to warm up (I have a pal in the tropics and his FZR6 is just as bad as my FZR 6 here in the UK. )

What I do is walk to the bike , start it on full choke, maybe aminute later the bike revs will climb to about 3K I then feather the choke level till she is idling at about 1.2K I then put on my helmet & gloves , do my pre ride checks. and away I go on part choke.

I will take the choke off by the feel of the throttle more than anything else as guide line.

I'm in southern California and it's pretty much the same deal with me. She takes a few minutes to get up to temp.

George,

It's great to see you finally. Hope you're feeling a bit better these days mate.

Basically the same. I run the bike with the choke until I hear a noticeable change in engine noise and the RPMs are above 3k. At this point i just turn off the choke and ride. I generally keep the rpms below 6k for the first couple miles or so.
