Right. But the point is that the YZF motor, when mounted in an FZR frame, is mounted at the same angle as the FZR motor would be. Since we know that the YZF motor mounts more UPRIGHT in a YZF frame, how is it that the collector pipes are able to run parallel to the ground (as is the case - from what I can see - in RoadDogma's pic)?

I know that the bottom of the oil pans in both of my FZRs run parallel to the ground (more ore less). Therefore, the collector areas of both exhausts run parallel to the ground as well (as I have observed). Does the YZF oil pan ALSO run parallel to the ground? If it DOES, this would mean that the size of the angle (the sides of said angle being the oil pan and the cylinder block) would be different between the YZF and the FZR (400 OR 600 since they are the same). The angle of the YZF system SHOULD be less (more acute) than the FZR. If I recall, there IS a difference between the YZF and FZR oil pans where the bottom surface of the pan is concerned so maybe this is where it's able to work. I say this because I believe with some certainty that the angle between the cylinder block and the bottom of the crankcases (where the pan mounts) is the same. I'll have to have a look at my YZF motor tomorrow to confirm (or deny) this for myself since I've never really had the inclination to do so before. In fact, I seem to recall some members (RoadDogma included) discussing using the FZR oil pan for this very reason (I think I've got that right anyway).
