Just a quick update, have been preoccupied (drinking) so not had a chance to get on here to update, I left the bike just a rolling chassis, however now its not a rolling chassis....
With the frame virtually stripped i set about the swingarm brace, I managed to source some 25mm x 25mm off cuts of pine to make a 'solid' model from so i can man handle it a bit and get it all mocked up. I settled on an underbrace as it makes life easier for Megawatt when he's building it for me
. The main worry was the clearances between the brace supports and the suspension unit, and the chain against the brace clearance.
As you can see theres plenty of clearance between the suspension and brace, and should be more when i fit the jack up kit. I ran into one problem which was if the brace followed the shape of the arm, the chain only had around 5mm of clearance from the arm, this was with the brace underslung at 140mm, so after speaking to Mega, we decided that if the brace is underslung at 165mm this gives more clearance for the chain and still leaves plenty of clearance for the suspension movement along with ground clearance. Unfortunately I've got no decent pictures of the brace fitted only this one.
The swingarm is now out of the bike and ready to be sent to Mega, I've just got to source a cardboard box big enough and strong enough to hold it all.
Along with making me the swingarm brace, Mega is also making me a custom chain guard out of stainless steel, so I've come up with a design idea which i saw on another brace but have changed it slightly more to my taste. (the bottom one is the final design, the red bits will be cut out)
