Re: minor adjustments & idle
CB,
It may just be as you say that sitting idle for awhile has the carbs a bit Yukky and the tank rust settling round the filter in the tank.
If you use the seafoam read the label we have had a few unfortunate incidents of over egging the mixture if you read back about seafoam on this forum.
When you say move the idle adjuster where you do not have to remove the LH cover off I take it you mean you still have the fairing lowers in place. I might suggest that during this investigative phrase and whilst getting used to your bike you take both side lower fairings off likely less costly & irritating over that time.

Yg
Yeah im am going to wait till i am ableto get her on the road and run it a little while and see if i can blow some on the junk out. But i pretty much have the idle set for right now. Its real close to 1100-1200 but i want to be able to adjust it if i ride say down south or up north in different altitudes and temps. But its just a thought for now. That will wait till i get used to her

Re: minor adjustments & idle
finally got her running a LOT better still not exactly where i want her but almost as good as new. just changed the horn out to a dual tone horn so now every one can hear me...
. i did discover on my first long ride 200+ miles the day i got it legal that i had a small oil leak that i havent been able to find yet. and after riding for say an hour she smokes and it smells like oil. hoping not the rings or valves. i talked to the guy that i got it from and he said he didn't do an oil change and i had it for 2 months before i got it legal. i just changed the oil 2 days ago but working nights so don't have the energy to ride during the day. so have to wait until i get a day off to take it out and see if it still smokes.

Cb,
Bikes that have sat idle for awhile I have noticed will smoke a bit then settle down. Use her on a regular basis and WATCH just in case

Spent a lot a time "hanging" with some "good ole boys" when I was in the military and all of them could wrench a V8 in the dark. Dunno what it is about the guys from the south but they surely do love their motors may be its because it sure beats walking the kind of long winding "roads " between towns <BG>

yes sir when you grow up in a town that only has one 4 way stop and the nearest store is 3 miles away and thats just the little gas station you find ways to make it back and forth and mechanics run in my family. but only me and my uncle have bikes and its funny when we get together because he is a 65 year old former marine with a Honda shadow 1100...
and i am navy so got the whole cruiser/sport navy/marine feud going on

Do not knock the Marines they help keep the bad guys away from your ships when you at your most vunerable i.e in port.
Tell him a "Screaming Eagle" sends his best " Semper Fi " and just to keep the score even "fair winds and following sea " for you.
as for the feud thing should keep the pair of you sharp LoL
